各位研究生同学：

      本期学校将开设外教选修课程，学习完该课程的同学可以获得2个学分。因疫情原因，一名外教将采用在线授课方式。两名外教老师的简历以及课程简介如下：

Digby Wren – SICNU Fall-Winter 2020-2021 （在线授课）

Deakin University (Melbourne, Australia) Visiting Scholar at Sichuan Normal University Chengdu China (SNU) and visiting lecturer at Soochow University Taipei Taiwan, teaching Academic Research and Writing, Intercultural Understanding, Communications and Media, and International Relations. Current research activities include China's Belt and Road Initiative, China Australia Relations, Geo-economics and Geo-politics and International Education Partnerships.

A contributor and commentator for China International Radio (CRI), China Plus website and App and CGTN, Digby has enjoyed a 25 year career in Media and Communications winning many awards and working for leading corporations and government.

For the online classes Digby will be introducing students to three areas of Academic study.

1.Academic English with an emphasis on oral skills and research presentation.

2.Intercultural Understanding with a focus on critical thinking, analysis of new media and emerging entertainment platforms and globalisation trends.

3.Politics and history study zooming in on the Belt and Road, global connectivity and China’s increasing importance in globalisation, climate change and industrial digitalisation and digital industrialisation.

Jeffrey  Soden – SICNU Fall-Winter 2020-2021 (线下授课）

Jeffrey is systems programmer (retired) from the county of alameda ( California)with 32 years of service. Trained by IBM, Microsoft (Apple), Wang, etc. He has worked in all areas of computing. During this time He studied various Languages (besides COBOL, Java etc.) Such as Hindi,Sanskrit, MalayHindi and has traveled to over 15 countries. Also Contributed to the writing of over 19 booksAfter Moving to Chengdu He was offered a position here SiNU teaching Oral English because of his language skills, and has been teaching in the international studies department for eight years. 

Jeffrey has been a Photographer since he was young. Shooting both film and digital. In fact He still wash his own film while processing digital images on his computer.He got involved with the technical side because of his computer background and his interest in all things light related. 

Jeffrey will be offering two courses 

1.Oral English with an emphasis on Intercultural understanding. Through cultural discourse we will strengthen Oral skills primarily in regard to listening skills and pronunciation.

2.Photographic technology ( understanding how cameras work and how we got to where we are today) The focus of this course is how a cameras functions, what it does with images and how it processes them. How cameras developed from the camera obscura to today. A secondary focus will cover what makes a good photograph, how to improve your images. This includes how understanding the technology affects your images.

      两位外教老师开设了5门课程一共10个班，每班限选50人。同学们可以根据自己的兴趣爱好和时间选择其中一个班即可，请同学们以学院+学号+姓名+外教老师班级的备注方式发送选课信息至1398825659@qq.com   邮箱，在9月30日下午17：00之前完成选课，口语课程将于10月12日正式行课。
